One reason your own bike beats taxis and rentals — it’s very cheap to run. A 50cc especially: tiny fuel use, pennies to service. Let’s add up the real monthly cost (2026, prices approximate — they change).

A 50cc is very economical: roughly 1.5–2 L per 100 km. RON 95 petrol in 2026 is about 20,000–22,000 ₫ per litre. With normal tourist city riding (say 300–500 km a month) you use ~6–10 litres, i.e. about 120,000–220,000 ₫ a month. Even if you ride a lot, it’s still small.

The main consumable is oil. Change it every 1,000–1,500 km; a change costs ~150,000–300,000 ₫ (with labour). With normal riding that’s about once a month or so. Occasionally brake pads, a bulb or a tyre — cheap and rare.
With normal riding around Nha Trang, running a 50cc costs about 300,000–600,000 ₫ a month (≈ $12–24). That’s cheaper than a few taxi/Grab trips in a week. A bike really saves money.
Running a 50cc in Nha Trang is pennies. So for two weeks or more, buying (especially with a 50% buy-back) almost always beats renting and taxis. Our bikes come serviced before sale with clean papers — fewer surprise costs. To make the bike last, see scooter care.
